Gallery Hotel description
Welcome to the Gallery Hotel in Barcelona - This Eixample district hotel is two blocks from Gaudí’s famed La Padrera, five blocks from his equally surreal Casa Batlló, and three km (two miles) from La Barceloneta beach. Hotel amenities include two floors of meeting facilities, a 24-hour business center, a fitness room, two saunas, a garden solarium, and a restaurant serving Mediterranean fare. The hotel’s 115 guestrooms feature modern furnishings, black-and-white photographic prints, stereos, large work areas, marble baths, minibars, and high-speed Internet access.
What to expect: Situated in a six-story building with wrought iron balconies, the hotel has a glass entrance with a revolving door. The large marble-floored lobby has a long wooden reception desk to the left and velvet sofas in midnight blue with cream piping to the right. A striking deep blue abstract painting hangs above the seating area, where business guests await meetings.
Amenity highlights: The hotel’s business facilities occupy two floors and include a 24-hour business center (surcharge) and eight meeting and conference rooms, with capacity ranging from 12 to 200. Four of the rooms have natural light. The fitness center has cardiovascular machines and a sauna. The restaurant has a garden terrace enabling outdoor dining during the summer months.
Insider tip: The Diagonal metro station is just outside the hotel and provides quick transit to Plaça Catalunya and the sites of the Gothic Quarter. However, guests wishing to shop rather than sightsee should stay in Eixample, as Passieg de Gracia and Rambla Catalunya are home to Barcelona’s leading designer boutiques.
The oak and marble lobby features designer clothes in glass cases and a Pacha jewellery shop. This hotel has 115 guestrooms, all of which are decorated in coffee and cream with black-and-white photographic prints and dark wenge wood furniture. Wenge headboards have a caramel upholstered inlay and soft armchairs are black and tan striped. Dual double-glazed windows keep noise to a minimum but can be opened. All rooms have stereos with complimentary chill-out CD, high-speed Internet access (surcharge), two telephones, and cable TV. Bathrooms have a tan marble vanity shelf with cream marble walls and feature hairdryer and telephone.
Café del Gallery - The hotel’s restaurant seats 60 and is furnished in dark wenge wood and has black wooden floorboards. There are leather dining chairs, in black or caramel, and benches with scatter cushions below the window. The restaurant opens on to the garden terrace, which enables outdoor dining when the weather is good. There is a buffet breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner. The menu is seasonal Mediterranean with dishes such as Suckling Pig Terrine. A bar and separate lounge area at the front of the restaurant serves coffee, beers, wines, cocktails, and light snacks throughout the day.
