Ambassador Hotel description
Welcome to the Ambassador Hotel in Barcelona - This hotel, built for the 1992 Olympic Games, is one block from La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter, and 500 meters (a quarter-mile) from the Cathedral and Passeig de Gracia. A rooftop terrace offers an unheated swimming pool, open year round, and views of the city; a fitness center has a sauna and steam room, and three meeting rooms are on site. The 105 modern rooms and suites are simply furnished, with long desks, small sitting areas, and minibars. Bathrooms have tubs, showers, bidets, and phones.
What to expect: Built for the Olympic Games in 1992 the hotel hosts businesspeople and couples on leisure breaks. The bright lobby area beckons guests in from the side street which is only one block from La Ramblas. A water feature separates the lobby from the hotel’s restaurant and a split level lobby bars offers drinks.
Amenity highlights: The rooftop swimming pool offers views over the city center. A sun terrace on the roof allows guests to lie back and soak up some rays. The hotel also offers three conference rooms and a restaurant.
Insider tip: Barbeques on the rooftop terrace, by the swimming pool, can be arranged if the hotel is given notice.
A year round roof terrace has an unheated swimming pool and sun loungers. The terrace has views over Barcelona. Also on the fifth floor is a small fitness area with a limited range of exercise machines, a sauna, and a steam room.
Three conference rooms cater for a range of business events, functions, and weddings. La Bodgullia space is in the basement, Salon Ambassador is the largest room catering for up to 200 dinner guests and Pintor Fortuny on the fifth floor has natural light and a terrace. The swimming pool and rooftop terrace can also be hired for functions.
This hotel has 105 guestrooms, all of which are simply furnished. All rooms have satellite TVs and movie channels. A mixture of dark and light woods behind the beds and paintings on the other walls brighten up the modern rooms. Bathrooms have bathtubs, showers and bidets. Some rooms also have small balconies.
El Carmen - Behind the lobby water feature is El Carmen, serving buffet breakfasts and à la carte lunches and dinners. Starters include fish soup and Spanish smoked ham, with main courses concentrating on seafood and steak dishes with the Iberian Tenderloin Fillet with Mushrooms a specialty. El Carmen has simple decor with brick walls on one side. Drapes cut out noise and light from the busy street outside.
